HISTORY
During a car ride to New York City in December 1994 with Ralph A. Figueroa and David Quintero, Louis D. Colon mentioned the idea of starting a fraternity on the campus of Utica University (formerly - Utica College of Syracuse University) to educate and epitomize the excellence of the Latino culture within their college community and amongst the Greek-lettered organizations. At first there was laughter, then loud silence.
XI THETA PSI Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on Sunday, March 5, 1995 by four Latino men dedicated to fostering a brotherhood for Latino male students. With plans for national growth and expansion, XI THETA PSI became a legal entity and was chartered and incorporated under the laws of New York State on September 21, 1995.
Our four founders, known as the "Four Tenacious Diamonds," believed that the Four Venerated Virtues of PSI would serve as the foundation for a LEGACY of future generations of men to cultivate leadership, challenge intellectual curiosity, support personal development, and promote cultural pride amongst its members. It was also concluded that a fraternity would be the strongest professional network and educational tie between men and their alma mater.
